Abhinav Pathak, the former cofounder of retail tech startup Perpule, has launched a new startup called Escape Plan, which has secured $5 million (INR 43.14 crore) in seed funding. The round was co-led by Jungle Ventures and Fireside Ventures, with participation from several early-stage backers.
Founded in 2025 by Pathak and Abhinav Zutshi, former COO of Landmark Group, Escape Plan is a travel accessories-focused brand that aims to bring design-forward and functional products to India’s fast-evolving travel market. The company will offer a range of products including luggages, duffels, backpacks, slings, pouches, and modular organisers.
Escape Plan is positioning itself as an omnichannel player, with products to be sold via offline stores, its soon-to-launch ecommerce platform, and through quick commerce platforms. The brand is currently retailing through select stores in Bengaluru and is expected to launch its online presence within a week.
The fresh capital will be used to expand Escape Plan’s retail footprint, introduce new product categories, and scale customer acquisition. The startup is also exploring 1-hour delivery integrations via quick commerce and travel discovery platforms in key urban markets.
On the expansion front, Escape Plan plans to open over 100 offline stores across Tier I and II cities in the next two years. The team is targeting India’s booming travel and luggage segment, which is projected to grow from $3.5 billion to over $5 billion by 2028.
“Our vision is to build a platform that blends functionality, aesthetics, and innovation—curated for the new-age Indian traveler,” said Pathak.
This marks Pathak’s second entrepreneurial outing. His previous venture, Perpule, was acquired by Amazon in 2021 for $14.5 million. After the acquisition, he worked at Amazon as a business and product leader for nearly two years.
Meanwhile, Zutshi brings a strong retail pedigree, having worked in leadership roles at Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail, Jack & Jones, Sahara India, and others.
Escape Plan joins a growing list of ventures launched by Perpule alumni—including robotics startup 10x by Yogesh Ghaturle, and fashion-focused quick commerce brand Slikk by Akshay Gulati.
