
Ernst & Young (EY) India has appointed Gaurav Bhalotia as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO), where he is currently spearheading the modernization of EY’s client technology stack. In his new role, “he is leading the modernization of the client technology stack by building cloud-native, AI-powered platforms that serve enterprise needs across tax, audit, and compliance.” His appointment reflects EY’s strategic focus on leveraging cutting-edge technology to deliver smarter and more scalable business solutions.
With nearly 20 years of experience in technology and engineering leadership, Bhalotia brings a strong track record of building and scaling high-performance tech systems. Before joining EY, he held key leadership roles at major technology-driven companies. As Vice President of Engineering at Flipkart, he was instrumental in developing large-scale platforms and expanding engineering teams to meet the demands of a rapidly growing e-commerce business. Later, as Chief Technology Officer at udaan.com, he oversaw the end-to-end technology, product, data science, and design functions, driving innovation and scale in one of India’s fastest-growing B2B platforms.
Earlier in his career, Bhalotia played a pivotal role at Kosmix (which later became WalmartLabs), where he led the development of categorization and search engines. He also held engineering roles at Retrevo and Oracle, contributing to foundational technology development and product innovation.
Beyond his corporate roles, Bhalotia is also an active entrepreneur and startup mentor. He founded Millioneyes Healthcare Technologies and has served as an advisor or angel investor in a wide range of early-stage ventures including HooLiv, Biryani by Kilo, Galaxeye, Vibecity, Wetrade, Rupeek, Twigly, and The Ayurveda Experience. His strategic insights have also benefited firms such as Trusting Social, Bahutbadhiya Labs, and Jabong.
With his broad industry experience and passion for innovation, Bhalotia is expected to play a critical role in transforming EY India’s technology capabilities. His leadership will be key in shaping next-generation platforms that support the firm’s mission to deliver value-driven services in a fast-evolving digital landscape.
