Google Cloud has appointed Sashikumar Sreedharan as its new Managing Director for India, a strategic leadership move aimed at driving AI-led growth in one of the company’s most important markets. The announcement, made on July 1, signals a renewed focus on expanding Google Cloud’s footprint in India’s rapidly growing enterprise and public sector cloud space.
Sreedharan will now lead Google Cloud’s go-to-market strategy in India, working closely with large enterprises, digital-native businesses, developers, and partners to support their digital transformation journeys through AI-powered solutions. Sreedharan has held key leadership roles at Microsoft India, SAP, and IBM, with over three decades of experience, and most recently served as Chief Operating Officer for Google Cloud APAC since joining in 2023.
“This has been an incredible four and a half years leading Google Cloud in India,” said Bedi. “I am immensely proud of the business that we have built with the support of my team, our customers and partners. I look forward to contributing to APAC’s strategic priorities and watching India’s continued success under Sashi’s leadership.”
This leadership transition comes as Google Cloud intensifies its competition with AWS and Microsoft Azure in India, a market where enterprise demand for cloud and AI services continues to surge. According to IDC, India’s public cloud services market is projected to reach $24.2 billion by 2028.
“AI is poised to redefine India’s industries and supercharge the productivity and creativity of its vast talent pool,” said Karan Bajwa, President of Google Cloud APAC. “As Sashi takes on the leadership of our team in India, I’m confident he will further propel our organisation and our customers to their next phase of growth in this crucial market.”
Google Cloud currently operates two cloud regions in Mumbai and Delhi-NCR and serves major clients including HDFC Bank, ICICI Prudential, Flipkart, Meesho, Manipal Hospitals, and Dream11. It also supports key public sector initiatives such as ONDC, Nirmit Bharat, and Karamyogi, reinforcing its commitment to India’s digital transformation.
