Establishing an R&D Footprint in India for Analytical and Measurement Solutions for Advanced Materials
HORIBA India Private Limited (Head Office: New Delhi, India; President: Rajeev Gautam), a HORIBA Group company, announces that it has completed the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Pristine Deeptech Private Limited*1 (Head Office: Gujarat, India; CEO: Ashvani Kumar; hereinafter “Pristine Deeptech”), a company engaged in a wide range of research and development related to the utilization of Lab Grown Diamond as a material in the Semiconductor and Quantum research fields, effective January 14, 2026, thereby making Pristine Deeptech a wholly owned subsidiary.
Diamond is gaining attention as an advanced material with excellent thermal conductivity and dielectric strength, and is expected to play an important role in a broad range of applications, including next-generation power semiconductors and quantum sensors*2. Through this acquisition, HORIBA will build on Pristine Deeptech’s diamond-related expertise to better capture development and manufacturing needs for advanced materials, and plans to establish an R&D hub in India to develop new products and deliver analytical and measurement solutions.
Background of the Acquisition
Diamond is an advanced material with outstanding properties, including high thermal conductivity and high dielectric strength. It is expected to contribute to improved device performance and energy savings across a wide range of fields, including next-generation power semiconductors, quantum sensors, 5G/6G communications, electric vehicles, data centers, and the aerospace and defense sectors. Against this backdrop, the utilization of Lab Grown Diamond as a material is expected to expand significantly over the next decade.
The HORIBA Group places strong emphasis on long-term, proactive investment in R&D. Since the 1990s, HORIBA has built R&D structures worldwide, including in France, the United States, and the United Kingdom, while continuing to address local customer needs. In this context, HORIBA has positioned India as one of the potential future global hubs for innovation, given India’s expanding and diversifying industrial base, and has been exploring ways to strengthen its local R&D capabilities.
Pristine Deeptech is an R&D-driven startup located in Gujarat and has maintained a business relationship with HORIBA since 2023. By combining Pristine Deeptech’s expertise in diamond research and vacuum technology with HORIBA’s world-class analytical and measurement technologies, HORIBA will create a powerful synergy for Semiconductor Woven Value Chain*3. This partnership establishes an R&D footprint for advanced materials in India, positioning HORIBA to deliver new solutions and accelerate innovation in fields poised for global market adoption, which led to this acquisition.
Outlook
1. Creating New Analytical and Measurement Solutions for Advanced Materials
By combining Pristine Deeptech’s outstanding know-how, which enables end-to-end support from lab-grown diamond R&D through the development of manufacturing equipment, with HORIBA’s analytical and measurement technologies cultivated over many years, including Raman spectroscopy, HORIBA aims to create solutions that support the practical implementation and wider adoption of advanced materials, including diamond wafers.
2. Accelerating Product Development Using Diamond Materials
HORIBA will also work on developing components such as sensors that use diamond, aiming for commercialization with a view not only to improving performance through integration into HORIBA products but also to selling the components as standalone products.
3. Leading the Advanced Materials and Semiconductor Business as a Core R&D Hub
Using this transaction as a starting point, HORIBA will continue strategic investments and, by promoting the provision of solutions rooted in local needs, will progressively enhance the functions and organization of HORIBA India as an R&D hub that leads HORIBA’s advanced materials and semiconductor business.
