Hyderabad Emerges as a Key Hub for Global Capability Centres and Automotive Innovation
Hyderabad is rapidly establishing itself as a major destination for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), with companies such as McDonald’s, Vanguard, First Citizens Bank, The HEINEKEN Company, DAZN, and Dai-ichi expanding into the city’s ecosystem this year. According to Zinnov, Hyderabad now hosts over 355 GCCs, with 27 new centres added in 2024 alone. Among these, Bosch Global Software Technologies (BGSW) has scaled its Hyderabad operations to 2,000 employees in just two and a half years, making it the company’s fastest-growing centre in India.

“Hyderabad is not a replica of Bengaluru or Coimbatore. It’s our centre of excellence for cybersecurity, and we’re building distinct clusters in AI, DevOps, ERP and mobility. This is a deliberate, focused bet,” said Amjad Khan Patan, VP and centre head for BGSW in Hyderabad. He added, “Post-COVID-19, we looked at locations not just for talent numbers but for their ability to drive value creation. Hyderabad stood out. It’s a city where innovation, culture, and commerce converge.”

BGSW is embedding AI into all layers of its engineering culture, with Hyderabad at the forefront. Globally, the company has trained 65,000 associates in AI and filed over 1,500 AI patents. From remote validation systems to AI-powered home appliances, many innovations are emerging from its Hyderabad hub. “We’re moving in phases—assistive, augmented and eventually autonomous AI. Hyderabad is at the centre of these innovations,” Patan noted. Currently, around 400 associates are undergoing AI training, with plans to expand the program to 1,500 by the end of the year.

Highlighting Hyderabad’s impact in global automotive R&D, Namita Adavi, partner at Zinnov, said, “Global OEMs are building core platforms and architectures from the ground up… the city is enabling global mandates to be engineered at scale.” Today, Hyderabad accounts for over 15% of India’s automotive GCCs, employing more than 8,000 engineers. Initiatives like Telangana Mobility Valley, T-Hub, and T-Works have helped position the city as a hub where AI, embedded software, chip design, and cybersecurity converge, defining the future of automotive innovation.

With a growing talent pool, strategic investments, and a focus on high-value technology clusters, Hyderabad is now emerging as a preferred destination for companies seeking to combine global capability, innovation, and scale.
