IDFC FIRST Bank has named Samarjit Roy Choudhury as its new Head – Infrastructure Security & Compliance, a leadership move aimed at bolstering the bank’s digital security posture and enhancing its governance frameworks. In this critical position, he will oversee security architecture, strengthen compliance structures, and guide infrastructure risk management—further advancing the bank’s mission to build a resilient, secure, and future-ready digital ecosystem.
Samarjit’s appointment comes at a time when financial institutions are rapidly scaling their digital capabilities, requiring robust controls to safeguard customer trust and ensure stability across interconnected platforms. His extensive background positions him as a strong fit to drive these transformational security priorities. At Jio Platforms Limited (JPL), he held senior roles where he led large-scale cybersecurity initiatives involving cloud security, threat intelligence, Zero Trust frameworks, and next-generation defence systems. These responsibilities enabled him to develop a multidimensional understanding of securing complex, high-traffic digital infrastructures.
Before JPL, Samarjit contributed to Standard Chartered, where he was responsible for global cybersecurity programs spanning multiple geographies. His work involved designing enterprise-wide protection models, implementing advanced security governance practices, and ensuring compliance across regulatory environments. This experience gave him the ability to navigate security challenges in highly regulated, multinational financial ecosystems.
A significant part of Samarjit’s expertise is rooted in his ten years of service with the Indian Air Force, where he worked in mission-critical security environments and cyber operations. His military background has shaped his disciplined approach to risk management, preparedness, and operational resilience—attributes crucial for safeguarding modern banking systems.
With this appointment, IDFC FIRST Bank underscores its focus on reinforcing trust, safety, and transparency across its expanding digital landscape. The bank aims to enhance its ability to proactively address emerging cyber threats, adapt to evolving compliance requirements, and maintain the highest standards of security governance.
Samarjit’s diverse experience across telecommunications, global banking, and defence brings a powerful combination of technical depth and strategic vision. His leadership is expected to further accelerate IDFC FIRST Bank’s efforts to build a security-first culture and ensure robust protection for customers, partners, and stakeholders in an increasingly digital financial world.
