
Patrick Vandenameele has stepped into the role of Chief Executive Officer at imec, ushering in a new phase of leadership for the global nanoelectronics and digital technology research organization.
In his new role, he will steer imec’s strategic direction, with a focus on advancing semiconductor innovation and strengthening collaborations that connect cutting-edge research with real-world industry applications.
Vandenameele has been associated with imec for nearly a decade, holding a series of leadership positions across venture development, business development, portfolio management, and executive operations. Most recently, he served as EVP and co-COO as well as CEO-elect, following earlier roles including Chief Portfolio Officer and Senior Vice President of Business Development & Venturing.
His journey within the organization reflects a deep understanding of both technological innovation and the broader business ecosystem required to scale it.
Prior to rejoining imec, he built an international career in the technology sector, including leadership roles at Huawei. He has also been involved in the deep tech startup ecosystem as a co-founder of ventures such as M4S and Essensium.
Earlier in his career, he held engineering roles at Qorvo, Inc. and Resonext Communications, building a strong technical foundation that complements his strategic leadership capabilities.
His appointment positions imec to further strengthen its role in global semiconductor innovation and deepen its partnerships across the deep tech ecosystem as it enters its next phase of growth and collaboration.
