Infosys has entered a strategic partnership with US-based AI startup Cognition to deploy Devin, described as the world’s first AI software engineer, across its internal operations and global client engagements. The collaboration brings together Cognition’s agentic AI capabilities with Infosys Topaz Fabric, Infosys’ multi-layered AI services suite, with the aim of accelerating software development, improving engineering productivity, and shortening time-to-market for enterprises navigating large-scale digital transformation.
At the core of the partnership is the use of autonomous and agentic AI to augment and, in some cases, independently execute software engineering tasks. Devin is designed to reason through complex development problems, write and test code, fix bugs, and manage workflows with minimal human intervention. By integrating this capability into Infosys’ delivery ecosystem, the company is positioning itself to offer clients faster, more adaptive, and outcome-driven engineering models.
Scott Wu, founder and CEO of Cognition, underscored the significance of the collaboration, saying, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Infosys to bring the power of autonomous and agentic AI engineering to some of the world’s most complex enterprises.” He added, “Infosys Topaz Fabric and Devin together offer unmatched capability from real-time developer augmentation to fully autonomous engineering execution. Infosys is the first large digital services and consulting firm to deploy agentic tools at this scale.”
From Infosys’ perspective, the partnership strengthens its ability to modernise enterprise technology landscapes while maintaining quality and governance. Infosys Topaz Fabric acts as the foundational AI layer, orchestrating data, models, and services to ensure that agentic tools like Devin are deployed responsibly and at scale. The combined offering is expected to support use cases ranging from application modernisation and cloud-native development to ongoing maintenance and optimisation.
Infosys CEO and Managing Director Salil Parekh highlighted the value for clients, stating, “By integrating Cognition’s advanced agentic and autonomous engineering expertise with our industry leading domain and delivery capabilities, we are creating a differentiated value proposition for the market.” He added, “This synergy is further enhanced by Infosys Topaz Fabric, which will serve as a catalyst for modernisation and innovation for clients to achieve their strategic objectives.”
As enterprises move beyond AI pilots toward production-ready, autonomous systems, the Infosys–Cognition collaboration reflects a broader industry shift toward agentic AI as a core component of future software engineering and digital services delivery.
