Kapil Malhotra has been elevated to Head of Customer Engineering | India Startups, AI-Native & GenMedia at Google, taking on a broader leadership mandate focused on advancing innovation and technology adoption across India’s rapidly expanding startup, AI-native, and next-generation media ecosystem. In this role, he will work closely with founders and enterprises to help them build, scale, and transform their businesses using Google’s cloud and artificial intelligence capabilities.
Kapil’s appointment builds on more than six years at Google, during which he has held several senior leadership positions across customer engineering and sales engineering functions. Most recently, from January 2024 to December 2025, he served as Head of Sales Engineering – Emerging Startups, based in Gurgaon, where he supported early-stage and high-growth companies in adopting cloud technologies. Prior to that, he was Head of Customer Engineering for Telco, Media & Gaming from January 2022 to December 2023, leading teams that worked with clients across telecommunications, media, gaming, and manufacturing.
In his current role, which he assumed in January 2026 and is based in Gurgaon, Kapil leads customer engineering initiatives for India Startups, AI-Native companies, and GenMedia organizations. His focus includes driving innovation across these segments and enabling the broader ecosystem to leverage advanced technology platforms.
Before joining Google, Kapil built extensive experience across enterprise technology, cloud solutions, and consulting. He spent over four years at Oracle India Pvt. Ltd., holding leadership roles including Director – Cloud Solution Consulting from January 2017 to September 2019, and Director – Database Sales Consulting from August 2015 to December 2016, both based in Gurugram. Earlier, he worked at Dell Technologies as Manager, Technical Presales, Dell Software India from July 2012 to August 2015 in New Delhi.
Kapil’s earlier career includes roles such as Senior Technologist at Emerson from June 2011 to July 2012, and Senior Manager – ACS Delivery at Oracle India from February 2007 to May 2011. Across these roles, he developed deep expertise in customer engineering, cloud platforms, enterprise technology, and strategic consulting.
