Kumar Anshu Joins Essar as Vice President – Human Resources to Drive Talent Strategy

Kumar Anshu has been appointed as Vice President – Human Resources at Essar, marking a pivotal advancement in his career as an HR leader. With a rich background across leading global and Indian organizations, Kumar brings a deep well of experience that will support Essar’s strategic focus on talent development amid its shift toward green energy and sustainability-led initiatives.

Over the years, Kumar has held leadership roles in prominent companies such as upGrad, OLX India, Ernst & Young Global Consulting Services, and Siemens. At upGrad, he served as the Human Resource Director, where he led various initiatives to enhance employee engagement and performance. During his time at OLX Group, Kumar worked as the Global Head, where he was responsible for workforce planning and driving organizational effectiveness across multiple regions.

His earlier experience at Ernst & Young (EY) as Senior Manager – People Advisory Services saw him spearheading several transformation programs and introducing key HR policy reforms. These efforts played a crucial role in reshaping client organizations during critical periods of change.

Kumar’s decade-long tenure at Siemens was particularly notable. As Chief Manager – Human Resources, he was instrumental in rolling out innovative HR practices across India and Europe. His work there contributed significantly to employee development and operational efficiency.

In his new role at Essar, Kumar will be responsible for leading talent management strategies at the group level. “He will be instrumental in driving talent management strategies at the group level, especially as the company focuses on green energy and sustainability-led growth.” His appointment is seen as a strategic move by the company to align human capital development with long-term business transformation.
