Leading with Strength & Sensitivity: Redefining Modern Leadership

In an era where narratives are shaped in real time and industries evolve faster than ever, leadership is being redefined by voices that bring both strength and sensitivity to the forefront. Across the communications landscape, women leaders are steadily reshaping the way organizations think, lead, and connect—placing equal value on empathy and performance, intuition and strategy. This evolving approach reflects the essence of #StrengtHER—a leadership style rooted in resilience, authenticity, and purpose. It is not just influencing workplace culture, but also transforming how stories are told and received. In this article, Ms Ayushi Arora Gulyani, Founder & CEO, Media Corridors share her perspectives on leadership, communication, and storytelling, and how these elements come together to shape resilient teams and enduring narratives in a dynamic world.

CXO Digital Pulse: Your journey reflects the courage in a highly competitive ecosystem. What motivated you to take that leap, and what leadership lessons shaped you along the way?

Ayushi Arora Gulyani: For me, the concept of Media Corridors was born out of an observation that, in the early days of my career, there were so many amazing brand stories that weren’t necessarily being told optimally. There was an opportunity, I felt, for a communications company that could approach storytelling in a more considered and strategic manner. While not always easy, it was that sense of belief in creating something worthwhile that helped me push forward. I think, over time, one thing has become very clear: it’s not about being perfect, it’s about being resilient. I think leadership is about learning, trusting, and staying true to your vision, even when the road ahead is unclear.

CXO Digital Pulse: In your view, what does meaningful leadership look like today, especially for women navigating dynamic and fast-evolving industries?

Ayushi Arora Gulyani: Leadership today, to me, is about leading not like a boss but like a colleague. It is important to create a culture where people feel heard, seen, and comfortable sharing their ideas. In public relations, while media relations remains important, the evolving communications landscape requires both freshers and experienced professionals to develop multi-faceted skills. Exploring different aspects of the communication field helps individuals grow and adapt. For women especially, leadership today is about being unapologetically authentic rather than fitting into a predefined mould. When leaders create supportive environments, teams become more engaged, confident, and motivated to contribute meaningfully.

CXO Digital Pulse: You often emphasize that communication is not just about visibility but responsibility. How can organizations use strategic storytelling to shape perception and build long-term trust?

Ayushi Arora Gulyani: I’ve always associated communication with responsibility. Building credibility and understanding is more important than just being visible. Organisations that are clear about their identity and values are better able to use strategic storytelling. People can tell when communication is authentic when it reflects real actions and sincere intent. The most compelling stories, in my opinion, are usually the most consistent rather than the loudest. Brands gradually gain consumers’ trust when they communicate with consideration and stay receptive. In the long run, that trust is far more valuable than any temporary visibility.

CXO Digital Pulse: As a woman leading a communications enterprise, how do you balance empathy-driven leadership with the need to drive performance and results in a demanding industry?

Ayushi Arora Gulyani: I believe that empathy and performance are closely related. In the fast-paced, demanding field of communications, it is essential to comprehend your coworkers and their motivations. I try to create an environment where my team members feel appreciated, inspired, and comfortable sharing ideas. At the same time, goal clarity and accountability are essential. When they feel valued and trusted, people naturally take ownership of their work. I believe that strong teams are formed when leaders balance compassion and clear expectations while inspiring everyone to strive for excellence.

CXO Digital Pulse: What advice would you offer to young professionals who aspire to lead and influence narratives in the future?

Ayushi Arora Gulyani: I would say stay curious and keep learning. Communication is an evolving field, and the ability to listen, observe, and ask thoughtful questions makes a big difference. Strong writing, research, and storytelling skills will always remain valuable. At the same time, authenticity is extremely important. In a space driven by perception, credibility becomes your greatest strength. Focus on building knowledge, understanding people, and forming genuine relationships. Over time, these experiences help you develop your own voice and allow you to shape narratives in a meaningful and responsible way.

CXO Digital Pulse: In a world dominated by fast content cycles and constant noise, how can leaders ensure that the narratives they build remain authentic, purposeful, and aligned with organizational values?

Ayushi Arora Gulyani: These days, an incredible amount of content is created daily, and at times, it seems like brands must react to everything immediately. But meaningful stories come from clarity, not just speed. Leaders need to be very clear about their values and the fundamental tenets of their organization. When communication is focused on a goal, it is simpler to stay consistent, even in a noisy environment. In my view, authenticity is demonstrated when words and deeds align, and this consistency is what gives companies credibility and long-term trust.
