MakeMyTrip has introduced Myra, an AI-driven, multilingual Trip Planning Assistant, designed to revolutionize the travel booking experience through intuitive, human-like conversations. Currently in beta, Myra supports both English and Hindi, allowing users to interact in English, Hindi, or a mix of both (Hinglish) via voice and text. The assistant handles a wide range of travel-related queries, from trip discovery to booking and even post-travel support, offering real-time, personalized recommendations. This launch signifies a major upgrade from MakeMyTrip’s earlier AI features and represents a significant step toward more intelligent, accessible travel solutions.
The initiative is rooted in the company’s broader vision of expanding travel access across India. Rajesh Magow, Co-founder and Group CEO of MakeMyTrip, explained, “With GenAI, we take that vision further by turning intent into action through natural, human-like conversations… this launch has the potential to solve for the Bharat heartland, reaching the deepest corners.”
Myra has been developed using custom-built language models and a sophisticated scheduling engine that processes requests and delivers contextual responses instantly. According to Sanjay Mohan, Group CTO at MakeMyTrip, “this is one of the company’s most complex tech builds,” emphasizing the effort behind the in-house AI framework that powers Myra’s multi-functional capabilities.
Structured around a suite of specialized AI agents, Myra can manage travel services such as flights, hotels, holiday packages, transportation, visa assistance, and forex. These agents work in tandem to create a seamless planning and booking journey, with AI acting as the central orchestrator.
MakeMyTrip has been an early adopter of generative AI in the travel sector. In 2023, it became one of the first platforms to integrate GenAI into the booking process. Since then, the company has continued to roll out innovative tools like Fare Lock and Zero Cancellation, aimed at giving users more control and flexibility.
With Myra, MakeMyTrip deepens its investment in GenAI and sets a new benchmark for intelligent travel planning. The tool not only enhances convenience for urban users but also aims to bring digital travel solutions to India’s underserved regions, in line with the company’s mission to democratize travel.
