Mohit Garg has been elevated to the role of Vice President of Engineering, AI Network Infrastructure at Microsoft. In this position, he leads the AI Infrastructure Interconnect for Microsoft Azure, where he oversees the development and operation of critical networking systems powering some of the world’s most advanced AI supercomputers. His work enables large-scale model training and inference, supporting both Microsoft’s internal initiatives and key partners such as OpenAI. This elevation underscores Microsoft’s ongoing investment in expanding its AI and cloud infrastructure capabilities.
A graduate of Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Mohit began his career as a Software Engineer at Solidcore Systems. Over the years, he has built deep expertise in engineering and large-scale infrastructure, playing a crucial role in enhancing Azure’s AI networking ecosystem and reinforcing Microsoft’s leadership in global AI innovation.

Prior to this appointment, Mohit held several key leadership roles within Microsoft, including Partner Director of Engineering for Azure Space and Mission Infrastructure, as well as Principal Software Engineering Manager. In these roles, he led initiatives spanning cloud networking, hybrid connectivity, and the development of large-scale AI infrastructure. His professional journey highlights a strong command over high-performance network design, software engineering, and the ability to lead global teams in delivering advanced technology solutions.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Throughout his career, Mohit has been recognized for building scalable AI networks, driving innovation in cloud technologies, and mentoring engineering talent—demonstrating a consistent commitment to technical excellence and leadership in AI infrastructure.
With this new role, Mohit brings a combination of strategic vision, technical depth, and leadership experience to further advance Microsoft’s AI network infrastructure. His efforts are expected to enhance system performance, improve reliability, and accelerate the delivery of transformative AI-driven solutions on a global scale.
