Microsoft has shared an ambitious look at the future of personal computing with its new video, “Microsoft Windows 2030 Vision.” The company imagines a world where interacting with Windows goes far beyond the traditional mouse and keyboard, ushering in an era of multi-modal, AI-first computing.
David Weston, Corporate Vice President of Enterprise and OS Security at Microsoft, emphasized that classic input methods will soon feel as obsolete as DOS does to today’s younger generation. By 2030, users will interact with Windows through natural conversation, hand gestures, and even eye movements, creating a more intuitive and immersive experience.
At the heart of this transformation is Microsoft Copilot, the AI assistant already embedded across Windows and Office apps. Users can activate Copilot simply by saying, “Hey Copilot,” allowing the assistant to manage system settings, perform web searches, and handle a variety of tasks seamlessly.
Weston also spoke about AI’s growing role in security, envisioning the rise of personal AI security experts designed to make cybersecurity more accessible—especially for small and medium-sized businesses.
Microsoft’s vision highlights a future where computing adapts naturally to human behavior, powered by AI to enhance productivity, security, and user experience.
