Mistral AI has raised €1.7 billion in its Series C funding round at an €11.7 billion post-money valuation, marking a major milestone in its mission to advance AI for addressing the most complex technological challenges across strategic industries. The funding will accelerate Mistral AI’s development of decentralized frontier AI solutions for enterprises, public sector organizations, and industrial applications, leveraging state-of-the-art models and high-performance compute infrastructure.
The round is led by ASML Holding NV (ASML), the world’s leading semiconductor equipment manufacturer. “ASML is proud to enter a strategic partnership with Mistral AI, and to be lead investor in this funding round,” said ASML CEO Christophe Fouquet. “The collaboration between Mistral AI and ASML aims to generate clear benefits for ASML customers through innovative products and solutions enabled by AI, and will offer potential for joint research to address future opportunities.”
The Series C also saw participation from existing investors, including DST Global, Andreessen Horowitz, Bpifrance, General Catalyst, Index Ventures, Lightspeed, and NVIDIA, further reinforcing Mistral AI’s independence as it continues to innovate in high-performance AI platforms.
“This investment brings together two technology leaders operating in the same value chain,” said Mistral AI CEO Arthur Mensch. “We have the ambition to help ASML and its numerous partners solve current and future engineering challenges through AI, and ultimately to advance the full semiconductor and AI value chain.”
Mistral AI’s latest funding positions it to expand research and development initiatives, strengthen global partnerships, and scale its compute infrastructure to meet the increasing demand for AI-driven solutions. By combining expertise in AI model development with ASML’s semiconductor technology leadership, the partnership aims to drive innovation across the entire semiconductor and AI ecosystem, benefiting customers, industries, and research communities alike.
The strategic collaboration highlights the growing convergence of AI and high-tech industrial manufacturing, with Mistral AI at the forefront of building solutions that not only optimize operational efficiency but also enable enterprises to tackle complex engineering and technological problems at scale.
