National Skill Development Corporation International (NSDC International) has announced its partnership with Alakh Pandey-led edtech unicorn PhysicsWallah (PW) to launch the Bharat Innovation Global Private Limited (BIG) initiative. This collaboration is a significant step toward transforming India into a global education hub, focusing on bridging the gap between academic learning and industry demands.
The BIG initiative aims to create flexible, technology-driven learning pathways that align education with the needs of the workforce. By emphasizing industry-relevant skills and preparing students for careers at an early stage, BIG plans to formalize skill training for students from classes 11 and 12 in schools. This approach extends beyond school learners, targeting Industrial Training Institute (ITI) and Polytechnic students, university learners, and working professionals.
In addition to these groups, BIG focuses on upskilling government sector employees to meet the challenges of modern governance and the evolving technological landscape. With training and capacity-building programs, the initiative strives to help public sector employees adapt to new technologies and improve public service delivery.
BIG’s goals are in line with recent educational reforms, such as the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) guidelines for online courses and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes flexibility and innovation in education.
Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of NSDC and MD of NSDC International, commented, “This partnership with PhysicsWallah is a transformative step in bridging the education-employability gap. The BIG initiative will empower millions of learners with essential skills, helping them thrive in the future job market.”
Alakh Pandey, Founder and CEO of PhysicsWallah, added, “Education is not a one-size-fits-all solution; it is a dynamic journey. Our partnership with NSDCI through BIG aims to make the educational landscape more inclusive, ensuring that learners grow at different stages of their lives.”
This collaboration promises to play a crucial role in shaping India’s educational landscape, ensuring that learners of all ages and backgrounds gain the skills needed to succeed in an increasingly digital and global economy.
