Nxtra by Airtel and AMPIN Energy Transition Expand Renewable Energy Partnership to Over 200 MW

Nxtra by Airtel, one of India’s largest and fastest-growing data center operators, has deepened its strategic partnership with AMPIN Energy Transition, a leading independent renewable energy producer. The companies have entered into a new Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS)-based power-wheeling agreement for 125.65 MW of solar-wind hybrid energy, significantly scaling their green energy collaboration to a cumulative capacity exceeding 200 MW.

Dual-Phase Renewable Energy Delivery

The newly signed agreement will be executed in two phases, with dedicated captive solar-wind hybrid projects being established in Rajasthan and Karnataka. This diversified sourcing strategy allows Nxtra to optimize energy availability while enhancing grid stability and sustainability for its pan-India data center operations.

AMPIN has been a long-standing green energy partner to Nxtra, having already supplied solar power via intra-state open access arrangements in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Odisha. The latest deal not only reinforces the trust and operational synergies between the two firms but also extends the geographic footprint of their renewable energy collaboration.

A Strong Step Toward Net Zero Goals

“Our expanded partnership with AMPIN Energy Transition for over 200 MW of renewable energy is a testament to our unwavering commitment to sustainability and our Net Zero targets,” said Ashish Arora, CEO of Nxtra by Airtel. “Powering our digital infrastructure with such a significant amount of clean energy sets new industry benchmarks and reinforces Nxtra’s leadership in the green data center space.”

Nxtra aims to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2031, and this deal is a major milestone in its decarbonization roadmap. As data centers are among the largest energy consumers in the digital ecosystem, transitioning to renewable energy is crucial to meeting both corporate and national sustainability goals.

Scaling a Nationwide Energy Transition

Pinaki Bhattacharyya, Founder, MD & CEO of AMPIN Energy Transition, added, “This partnership showcases how an integrated, pan-India approach combining inter-state and intra-state renewable energy can help enterprises transition to nearly 100% clean energy. Nxtra by Airtel shares our vision for a sustainable future, and we’re proud to enable the greening of India’s digital infrastructure together.”

With this deal, AMPIN continues to demonstrate its capacity to deliver large-scale, customized renewable energy solutions for energy-intensive industries. Nxtra, in turn, is setting a precedent for responsible digital growth, ensuring its growing data infrastructure is underpinned by clean, reliable, and cost-effective power.
