Okaya Power Group has announced the appointment of Prakash Dharmani as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO), marking a significant step in the company’s commitment to accelerating its digital transformation journey. His appointment underscores Okaya Power’s strategic focus on leveraging cutting-edge technology to drive operational efficiency, innovation, and long-term business growth.
A veteran technology leader with over 33 years of cross-industry experience, Dharmani brings a wealth of expertise in implementing and managing enterprise-wide digital platforms. Throughout his career, he has successfully led large-scale deployments of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), CRM (Customer Relationship Management), SCM (Supply Chain Management), and cloud-based solutions across a range of industries, including petrochemicals, refining, packaging, logistics, and utilities.
Before joining Okaya Power, Dharmani served in CIO roles at Essar Group, EPL Limited (formerly Essel Propack), and Erba Diagnostics, where he consistently demonstrated his ability to align technology with business strategy and deliver impactful digital outcomes. His approach combines technical depth with business acumen, making him a trusted advisor and transformation enabler for enterprise leadership teams.
Academically, Dharmani holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Pune University and has completed an Advanced Management Program from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore. He has further deepened his technological credentials with specialized certifications in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) from IIT Kanpur and Cybersecurity from the Data Security Council of India (DSCI). He is also a certified Lead Auditor and ISO Implementation Expert, accredited by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA), Mumbai.
Dharmani’s contributions to the technology domain have been widely recognized. He is a recipient of the CIO100 Award, has been inducted into the CIO Hall of Fame, and has been consistently named among India’s Best 50 CIOs. In addition to his corporate roles, he also serves in advisory capacities, including with INDUS SAP India, contributing thought leadership to the broader tech community.
At Okaya Power, Dharmani will be responsible for leading the organization’s digital strategy, IT governance, infrastructure modernization, cybersecurity, and enterprise innovation. His mandate includes building robust technology frameworks that support scalability, data-driven decision-making, and enhanced customer experience.
