OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Pulse, a new feature aimed at delivering users a daily snapshot of personalized insights based on their interactions, calendar, email, and connected applications. “OpenAI has unveiled ChatGPT Pulse, a new feature designed to give users a daily snapshot of personalized insights based on their chats, calendar, email, and connected apps.” Initially available to Pro users, Pulse organizes updates into quick “visual cards,” ranging from Formula One race news to tailored dinner menu suggestions that align with individual dietary needs.
Christina Kaplan, who leads personalization at OpenAI, described the feature as a proactive companion. “The tool can now ‘keep a pulse proactively on things important to you’ and deliver ‘information, ideas, and tactical next steps.’” Her demonstration of Pulse showcased its ability to seamlessly integrate into everyday life — for example, mapping out a running route that ended at a restaurant, creating a meal plan based on dietary preferences, and offering personalized fitness suggestions, including Pilates routines, recovery exercises, and even hiking fuel stops. Kaplan emphasized that “Your Pulse is between you and ChatGPT,” noting that data is used solely to refine personal experiences and not for broader model training.
The launch represents a significant move in OpenAI’s ongoing strategy to develop AI agents, a competitive area where tech giants such as Google, Anthropic, Amazon, and Meta are also making major investments. Fidji Simo, OpenAI’s CEO of applications, highlighted this vision: “The next frontier is agents: AI assistants that can take action on your behalf and work like a team alongside you. The real breakthrough will come when AI assistants understand your goals and help you reach them without waiting for you to prompt them.”
In building Pulse, OpenAI has also prioritized boundaries around user engagement. Samir Ahmed, technical lead on the ChatGPT team, explained that the design is focused on utility rather than overuse. “The experience is meant to work for you and not to keep you scrolling.” He added that with safety filters and responsible design policies in place, the feature is intended to provide a focused, supportive experience — a daily digital companion that enhances productivity without becoming a distraction.
By combining personalization, proactive insights, and careful guardrails, Pulse underscores OpenAI’s broader ambition to make ChatGPT not just a conversational tool, but a trusted assistant capable of fitting into the rhythm of everyday life.
