Pine Labs has appointed Shalini Pillai Banerjee as its Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), strengthening the fintech and payments company’s senior leadership as it sharpens brand positioning and accelerates growth in an increasingly competitive digital payments landscape. The appointment signals Pine Labs’ focus on building a strong, differentiated brand while scaling its presence across merchants, enterprises, and consumers. Banerjee joins the company from Microsoft, where she most recently served as Marketing Director for India and South Asia.
In her new role, Banerjee will lead Pine Labs’ overall marketing strategy, including brand building, go-to-market execution, and customer engagement across its product portfolio. Her mandate is expected to center on enhancing market visibility, strengthening customer trust, and supporting Pine Labs’ expansion ambitions across payments, commerce, and fintech services.
Banerjee brings more than two decades of experience across technology, consumer brands, and entrepreneurship. Prior to Microsoft, she spent nearly a decade at Google India, where she served as Head of Consumer Apps Marketing. During her tenure, she played a key role in driving adoption and engagement across large-scale consumer and small-business platforms, building marketing programs designed for mass reach as well as localized impact in the Indian market.
Her career also includes senior leadership roles at Coca-Cola India, where she worked on brand strategy, integrated marketing, and large consumer campaigns. In addition to her corporate experience, Banerjee has entrepreneurial exposure as the co-founder of BrandIdea Consultancy and Eventus Integrated Management, giving her a strong understanding of building brands from the ground up and navigating fast-moving business environments.
At Pine Labs, Banerjee is expected to apply her deep expertise in technology-led marketing, consumer insight, and brand storytelling to support the company’s next phase of growth. Her background across global organizations positions her well to align Pine Labs’ marketing efforts with international best practices while staying grounded in local market dynamics.
The appointment underscores Pine Labs’ emphasis on strengthening leadership as it competes in a rapidly evolving fintech ecosystem, where clear brand differentiation, customer-centric messaging, and scalable go-to-market strategies are becoming critical to long-term success.
