Rahul Shukla Takes on Associate Director of Security (CISO) Role at Freecharge

Freecharge has appointed Rahul Shukla as Associate Director of Security (CISO), reinforcing the company’s focus on strengthening cybersecurity, data protection, and digital trust across its platform.

In this role, Rahul Shukla will lead the organisation’s information security, cyber resilience, data protection, and privacy programs aimed at safeguarding customers, partners, and business operations. His responsibilities include aligning security and privacy strategies with Freecharge’s expanding digital infrastructure and ensuring that the company’s cybersecurity framework remains scalable and compliant with evolving regulatory requirements.

Rahul brings more than nine years of professional experience in cybersecurity, secure engineering, risk management, and security governance. Throughout his career, he has contributed to the development of enterprise-grade security frameworks and governance models that help organisations manage complex cyber risks while supporting business growth.

Before joining Freecharge, Rahul served as Head of Information Security (CISO) at C2treds, where he led the organisation’s cybersecurity strategy, governance initiatives, and risk management functions. In that role, he focused on strengthening the protection of critical financial systems while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational resilience.

Prior to C2treds, he worked as Manager – Information Security at India International Depository IFSC Limited (IIDI) in GIFT City. During his tenure there, he was responsible for security audits, security management, and strengthening the organisation’s overall information security posture.

Earlier in his career, Rahul was associated with Motadata in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where he progressed through multiple roles within the cybersecurity function. He served as Senior Security Analyst from October 2023 to January 2025 and previously worked as Security Analyst from August 2022 to September 2023. In these roles, he was actively involved in cybersecurity incident management, information systems security, and various operational security initiatives aimed at improving threat detection and response capabilities.

Rahul began building his professional foundation in cybersecurity through hands-on experience in security analysis and incident management, which contributed to his growing expertise in enterprise security operations and governance.

Academically, he holds a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication from RK University. His academic training provided the technical groundwork for his career in cybersecurity, information security management, and risk mitigation.

With Rahul Shukla joining the leadership team, Freecharge aims to further strengthen its cybersecurity framework and develop robust security and privacy programs that support the company’s digital growth and evolving technology ecosystem
