
RailTel Corporation has secured an international contract to deliver data centre implementation services for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. As disclosed in a stock exchange filing, the project involves setting up a data centre within the ministry’s existing premises.
The order, valued at ₹19.83 crore, has a long execution timeline and is expected to be completed by December 25, 2029. The company clarified that the awarding entity has no connection with its promoters or promoter group, and confirmed that the contract does not qualify as a related-party transaction under prevailing regulatory norms.
A Navratna public sector undertaking, RailTel is among India’s largest neutral telecom infrastructure providers and operates a nationwide optical fibre network spanning the length and breadth of the country.
On the financial front, RailTel reported a 4.72% year-on-year increase in standalone net profit for the second quarter of FY26, with earnings rising to ₹76.07 crore from ₹72.64 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Revenue from operations for the quarter grew 12.78% year-on-year to ₹951.36 crore.
Following the announcement, RailTel’s shares gained momentum, closing 6.03% higher at ₹378.05 on Friday, December 26, 2025.
