
Rajan Sharma has been appointed as Head – Strategy & Planning at JSW Motors Limited, as the company strengthens its leadership team ahead of launching its new mobility-focused automotive venture in India. In this role, he will lead strategic planning initiatives aimed at supporting long-term growth and accelerating the company’s expansion in the evolving automotive landscape.
Confirming the development, Sharma described the opportunity as a significant moment for the industry. “The emergence of a new large Indian automotive brand is a rare moment for the industry. Delighted to join JSW Motors as Head — Strategy & Planning,” he said. He also highlighted that India’s automotive sector is entering a transformative phase, driven by the shift toward new energy vehicles and next-generation mobility ecosystems.
At JSW Motors, Sharma will be responsible for shaping the company’s strategic roadmap, aligning business priorities with market opportunities, and supporting the creation of a future-ready mobility ecosystem. His role will be central to positioning the company within India’s rapidly evolving automotive and clean mobility space.
Prior to this appointment, Sharma was associated with Tata Motors, where he served as Head – Sales Planning from April 2024 to March 2026. In this capacity, he played a key role in aligning sales strategies with market demand and broader business objectives, contributing to improved planning and execution across the organization.
Earlier, he held multiple leadership roles at MG Motor India (Morris Garages India), including Field Sales Head for South and West India as well as General Manager and Zonal Head for the South region. During his tenure, he contributed to strengthening sales operations, expanding dealer networks, and driving regional market growth.
Sharma also gained valuable experience at CarDekho Group, where he worked on business development and strategic initiatives, further enhancing his expertise in the automotive ecosystem. He began his career with Hyundai Motor India, where he developed a strong foundation in sales operations, channel management, and market expansion.
He also noted that JSW Group’s ambition to build a future-ready mobility ecosystem aligns with broader goals around innovation, infrastructure, and nation-building. The group has been actively exploring opportunities in the automotive and new energy mobility space, with its first product expected to be launched within the current calendar year.
With extensive experience across sales strategy, market development, and operational planning, Sharma’s appointment is expected to play a key role in shaping JSW Motors’ strategic direction as it enters the competitive automotive sector.
