Samsung Semiconductor has announced the appointment of Rajesh Krishnan as its new Managing Director, marking a significant milestone in the company’s growth journey. “Rajesh Krishnan has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Samsung Semiconductor, marking a major milestone in the organization’s growth journey.” In his new role, he will be responsible for strengthening India’s contribution to Samsung’s global innovation roadmap, driving semiconductor research and development, and reinforcing SSIR’s position as a hub for technological leadership and talent development.
Krishnan’s appointment comes at a crucial time when the semiconductor industry is at the heart of technological advancements, from AI and 5G to high-performance computing. Before assuming this leadership role, Krishnan served as Senior Vice President and Head of Samsung’s Memory R&D Division in India. In that capacity, he played a pivotal role in driving advancements in memory technologies, contributing to Samsung’s leadership in the global semiconductor space. His expertise in memory and semiconductor research has been instrumental in accelerating innovation and strengthening India’s role in global projects.
Krishnan’s career journey began prior to Samsung, where he worked with Hughes Network Systems in the United States and Motorola India. These early experiences gave him strong foundations in engineering, systems, and software development, which later became critical in his leadership roles within Samsung.
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, where he earned his M.Tech in Computer Science, Krishnan also holds an MBA in Strategy and Finance from the University of Maryland. This blend of technical and strategic expertise positions him uniquely to lead Samsung Semiconductor India into its next phase of growth, innovation, and global collaboration.
