Reliance and Meta Join Forces to Launch Rs 855-Crore AI Venture — Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited

Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Limited has entered into a landmark partnership with Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta Platforms to launch a new artificial intelligence company, Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited (REIL). According to a regulatory filing, Facebook Overseas, a wholly owned subsidiary of Meta, will hold a 30 percent stake, while Reliance Intelligence, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, will own the remaining 70 percent. The two giants have committed a combined investment of Rs 855 crore to power this high-impact AI initiative—marking one of the most significant alliances between global technology and Indian industry leaders.

REIL is set to focus on the development, marketing, and deployment of enterprise-grade AI solutions designed to reshape the way Indian businesses function. By combining Meta’s open-source Llama models with Reliance’s robust digital infrastructure and extensive enterprise ecosystem, the venture aims to deliver scalable, cost-effective AI tools customized for India’s diverse market landscape. These solutions will be offered across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments, ensuring flexibility and a lower total cost of ownership for enterprises across sectors.

The collaboration was first announced during Reliance’s Annual General Meeting in August, where Ambani highlighted AI as the next frontier for digital transformation in India. As part of the initiative, REIL will launch an enterprise AI platform-as-a-service along with a suite of ready-to-use AI applications spanning critical business functions such as sales, marketing, finance, IT operations, and customer service.

Under the partnership, Meta will contribute its technical expertise and leadership in AI model innovation, while Reliance will spearhead large-scale adoption through its vast enterprise network and digital reach. This synergy positions REIL to accelerate India’s AI ecosystem, empowering both large corporations and small businesses to harness the potential of intelligent automation and data-driven decision-making.

The filing further clarified that no governmental or regulatory approvals were required for REIL’s establishment, reflecting the strategic speed and clarity of execution behind the collaboration. With this venture, the Ambani-Zuckerberg alliance is poised to set a new benchmark in enterprise AI innovation, bridging cutting-edge global research with India’s fast-growing digital economy.
