Salesforce has announced plans to acquire Waii, a cutting-edge natural language-to-SQL platform, in a move aimed at strengthening its AI-powered data capabilities. The deal is expected to close in Q3 FY26, and although financial details have not been disclosed, this marks another major step in Salesforce’s broader strategy to expand its Data Cloud ecosystem.
Waii’s enterprise-grade platform transforms natural language queries into accurate, optimised SQL by leveraging a dynamic metadata knowledge graph. This graph maps an organization’s data environment—including schemas, relationships, metrics, and governance rules—enabling streamlined, conversational data access and analysis.
Following the acquisition, Salesforce intends to integrate Waii’s capabilities directly into Data Cloud, where it will enhance Tableau’s semantic engine. The goal is to make data discovery, analytics, and management more intuitive and AI-driven, ultimately allowing business users to ask complex questions in natural language and receive actionable insights—without needing technical SQL expertise.
“With Waii, we’re not just augmenting our stack; we’re acquiring the catalyst that makes this vision a reality for our customers,” said Raveendrnathan Loganathan, EVP of Salesforce Data Cloud.
The move is particularly focused on enabling agentic workflows—a growing trend in enterprise AI—across Salesforce products such as Agentforce and the upcoming Tableau Next. These intelligent workflows will allow users and AI agents to access and interact with data more efficiently, fostering faster decision-making across sales, marketing, and customer service functions.
This acquisition follows a busy 2025 for Salesforce, which recently acquired Convergence.ai and is also pursuing a pending $8 billion deal with Informatica. Together, these deals highlight Salesforce’s aggressive push into the AI and data infrastructure space, as the company seeks to solidify its role as a leader in AI-first enterprise solutions.
By incorporating Waii’s advanced natural language processing and SQL translation technology, Salesforce is positioning itself to offer smarter, more user-friendly analytics, enabling users at all levels to unlock value from their data with greater ease.
