SatLeo Labs Raises $2.2M Seed Round to Advance Thermal Satellite Mission

SatLeo Labs has raised $2.2 million in a seed funding round led by Unicorn India Ventures, taking its total funding to $5.5 million to date. The round also saw participation from Merak Ventures, Java Capital, IIMA-CIIE, and investor Manish Gandhi.

The capital will be deployed to accelerate the company’s thermal satellite mission and further develop its AI-powered platform focused on thermal intelligence applications.

Founded by Shravan Bhati, SatLeo Labs is building satellite-based systems capable of capturing high-resolution thermal and visible data from low Earth orbit. Its solutions are designed to support a wide range of use cases, including defence, agriculture, urban planning, and climate monitoring.

Over the past year, the company has achieved significant progress across technology development, team expansion, and commercial traction. It has grown its team from 8 to around 30 members, bringing together expertise in satellite systems, thermal sensing, and AI-driven geospatial analytics.

A key milestone for the company has been the development of its first experimental thermal payload, TAPAS-1, which has been delivered for satellite integration and is progressing toward launch readiness. In parallel, SatLeo has initiated pilot deployments, including urban heat and air pollution monitoring projects in cities such as Ahmedabad and Tumakuru, impacting over 400,000 citizens.

The startup has also built a strong commercial pipeline, with Letters of Intent growing to over $42 million, reflecting increasing demand for space-based thermal intelligence solutions.

“Sustainability has become imperative amid accelerating climate change, rapid urbanization, and increasing global uncertainties driven by heat anomalies,” said Shravan Bhati, Co-founder & CEO, SatLeo Labs. At SatLeo Labs, we are developing a state-of-the-art thermal imaging satellite constellation designed to deliver actionable thermal intelligence at scale. This fundraise represents a critical milestone as we transition into the execution phase of our next mission—advancing payload performance, accelerating constellation deployment, and scaling our global thermal data capabilities.”

Going forward, the company plans to focus on satellite launch readiness, expanding its commercial footprint, and scaling its thermal data infrastructure to meet growing global demand for climate and geospatial intelligence.
