Tata Electronics has entered into a strategic partnership with German engineering major Robert Bosch GmbH to collaborate in the electronics and semiconductor space. The two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing semiconductor chip packaging and manufacturing in India.
Under the agreement, Tata Electronics will carry out assembly and testing operations at its upcoming facility in Assam, while its Gujarat unit will serve as a foundry, manufacturing semiconductor chips. The partnership also extends to exploring opportunities in electronic manufacturing services (EMS), with a special emphasis on vehicle electronics.
The MoU is expected to support Bosch in strengthening its technology product supply chain, while simultaneously contributing to the growth of India’s semiconductor and electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
Both companies will further evaluate potential local projects in the automotive electronics domain, underscoring their shared vision for industry-led development in India.
“This partnership is well-aligned with our commitment to help create a holistic semiconductor and electronics ecosystem in India, with offerings that resonate with customers around the world,” said Randhir Thakur, CEO and MD of Tata Electronics.
While specific investment figures and project timelines have not been disclosed, the partnership reflects Tata Electronics’ ongoing efforts to expand in the semiconductor space through global collaborations.
Just over a month ago, the company was reportedly in discussions with global players such as X-Fab, DNeX, and Globetronics to acquire fabrication or OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) facilities in Malaysia.
