Tokyo, Japan – Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. announced on September 29 and October 3 that its systems are experiencing disruption due to a ransomware attack.
Subsequent investigations have confirmed that data suspected to have been subject to unauthorized transfer as a result of the recent attack has been identified on the internet. We are conducting investigation to determine the nature and scope of the information that may have been subject to unauthorized transfer. Should the investigation confirm any impact from unauthorized data transfer, notifications will be delivered promptly. This incident has impacted our technology assets in Japan. While investigation is ongoing, there is no indication that other data and systems were affected.
Asahi Breweries resumed production at all six of its domestic factories from October 2 and partial shipments of Asahi Super Dry has resumed. Beginning October 15, partial shipments of products including Asahi Draft Beer and Asahi Dry Zero will also resume, as part of ongoing recovery efforts.
Asahi Soft Drinks has partially resumed production at six of its seven domestic factories as of October 8, and all seven will partially resume production from October 9.
Asahi Group Foods has partially resumed production at all seven of its domestic factories as of October 8.
