Freshworks has announced the appointment of Venkat Venkataraman as Vice President of Product – AI Platform and Strategy, where he will lead the vision and execution of generative AI solutions across key offerings including Freddy Copilot, Freddy Insights, and AI Agents. “Venkat Venkataraman has been appointed as Vice President of Product – AI Platform and Strategy at Freshworks, where he leads the vision and execution for generative AI solutions across Freddy Copilot, Freddy Insights, and AI Agents.” His mandate is to build scalable AI platforms that enable smarter, faster, and more autonomous workflows for SMBs, mid-market companies, and global enterprises.
Prior to joining Freshworks, Venkat held the position of VP of Engineering & AI at RingCentral, where he managed a global engineering team of over 500 members and led innovative video technology efforts aimed at competing with industry leaders like Zoom and Microsoft Teams. “Prior to joining Freshworks, Venkat served as VP of Engineering & AI at RingCentral, overseeing a 500+ person global engineering team and spearheading video innovation efforts to compete with Zoom and Microsoft Teams.” He also played a pivotal role in the acquisition and expansion of RingCentral’s Hopin Events business line.
Venkat’s career spans leadership roles at notable companies such as Hopin, Nielsen, LiftIgniter, Vonage (TokBox), CA Technologies, BEA Systems, and IBM. During his tenure at Nielsen, Venkat was responsible for delivering AI platforms supporting major clients like Amazon, Facebook, and Apple. His time as CTO at LiftIgniter further established his expertise in AI and machine learning infrastructure and product strategy.
Beyond his corporate commitments, Venkat serves as a Strategic Advisor at ComplexChaos, is a member of the Forbes Technology Council, and has contributed as an Advisory Board member for the Big Data Certificate Program at San Francisco State University.
With his deep experience in AI innovation and product leadership, Venkat is set to accelerate Freshworks’ AI-driven product roadmap, empowering customers worldwide with cutting-edge technology for enhanced productivity and customer engagement.
