SML Isuzu Ltd has announced the appointment of Vinod Sahay as its Executive Chairman. Bringing over two decades of leadership experience across the Mahindra Group and Tata Motors, Vinod is set to strengthen SML Isuzu’s market presence, accelerate innovation, and drive sustainable growth in the commercial vehicle sector. “He now takes charge at SML Isuzu Ltd. to strengthen its market presence, accelerate innovation, and drive sustainable growth in the commercial vehicle industry,” the company said.
Vinod currently serves as President – Aerospace & Defence, Trucks, Buses & Construction Equipment at Mahindra Group and is a Member of the Group Executive Board. In this capacity, he has played a pivotal role in advancing India’s ambitions in Defence and Aerospace while driving growth across the commercial vehicle and automotive sectors. His career highlights include serving as CEO of Mahindra Trucks and Buses Division, CEO of Mahindra Two Wheelers, and President & Chief Procurement Officer, along with board-level responsibility at Peugeot Scooters, France.
Before joining Mahindra, Vinod spent 17 years at Tata Motors, holding key roles in Strategy, Sales, Marketing, Product Management, and Channel Development, culminating as Business Head – Medium & Heavy Trucks. His strategic insights and leadership have been widely recognized, earning him the distinction of being named one of India’s Most Inspirational Business Leaders by White Page International.
Vinod’s contributions extend beyond the corporate realm; he actively engages with global forums such as the World Economic Forum and the World Bank Group, sharing thought leadership on manufacturing, supply chain resilience, and industry best practices.
An alumnus of Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business and Symbiosis, Pune, Vinod brings a unique blend of global exposure, operational expertise, and visionary leadership to SML Isuzu. His appointment is expected to drive strategic initiatives, foster innovation in product development, and enhance the company’s competitiveness in India’s evolving commercial vehicle market.
