Workday elevated Gabe Monroy as Chief Technology Officer to drive AI-led innovation

Workday has promoted Gabe Monroy to the role of Chief Technology Officer, marking a key leadership transition as the company strengthens its focus on AI-driven enterprise solutions. In his new position, Monroy will oversee the company’s technology strategy and lead innovation initiatives aimed at accelerating the adoption of advanced digital capabilities across its platform.

Monroy has already played a significant role within Workday, having most recently served as SVP/GM Platform. In this role, he was instrumental in evolving the Workday platform to be more open, extensible, and AI-native. His efforts were focused on enabling greater flexibility for enterprise users while driving innovation across a rapidly expanding ecosystem of developers and partners.

Prior to joining Workday, Monroy held several senior leadership positions at Google, where he served as VP/GM Cloud Runtimes and VP of Developer Experience. During his tenure, he led initiatives spanning cloud-native infrastructure, Kubernetes, serverless computing, and AI/ML workloads. His contributions included driving large-scale product innovation and strengthening developer ecosystems on a global scale.

Monroy also brings extensive experience from his time at DigitalOcean, where he served as Chief Product Officer and led product management, engineering, and design functions for customer-facing platforms. Earlier in his career, he spent over four years at Microsoft, holding leadership roles including Vice President of Product Management, where he worked on Azure developer services, cloud platforms, and serverless technologies.

In addition to his corporate leadership experience, Monroy has a strong entrepreneurial background, having served as CTO of Deis, Inc. and OpDemand. He has also held technical leadership roles at Intuit Inc and Temboo, contributing to the development of cloud-native platforms and open-source ecosystems. With his appointment as CTO, Workday is expected to further accelerate its product innovation and strengthen its position in AI-powered enterprise technology.
