Edme Insurance Brokers has announced the appointment of Nitin Firke as Managing Director – Reinsurance, a strategic leadership move that strengthens the company’s position in global reinsurance and risk advisory services. “With over two decades of experience, including more than 15 years in the insurance sector, Nitin brings a wealth of strategic insight and global expertise in reinsurance, business development, and international expansion.”
Nitin joins Edme after a successful tenure as Chief of Reinsurance at Mahindra Insurance Brokers Limited, where he led key initiatives in scaling the firm’s reinsurance capabilities. He played an instrumental role in “expanding global partnerships, and leading regulatory coordination with bodies like the IRDA.” His leadership was crucial in establishing long-term, trusted relationships with global reinsurers and cedants, while also architecting comprehensive global insurance programs for the Mahindra Group.
His appointment signals Edme’s intent to broaden its reinsurance footprint and deepen its expertise across international markets. Nitin’s global perspective, paired with his operational and strategic experience, will be critical as the firm looks to offer more comprehensive, customized solutions to clients navigating a dynamic risk landscape.
Earlier in his career, Nitin held multiple senior leadership roles at ICICI Lombard, including Vice President and Deputy General Manager, where he led operations in both India and the MENA region through ICICI Bank’s Dubai office. He was responsible for “developing a multi-million INR inward reinsurance portfolio, launching strategic initiatives across SAARC, GCC, and African markets, and creating a strong foundation in reinsurance treaty negotiations, underwriting advisory, and market development.”
In addition to his extensive insurance and reinsurance experience, Nitin has a diverse industry background, having held roles at Brainvisa Technologies, SKF Bearings, Bharat Forge, and VentureCap Investor Prospect. His broad-based exposure enables a holistic understanding of risk, operations, and client needs—an asset as Edme seeks to deliver agile and forward-looking reinsurance strategies.
