After two years of confidential deep GPU IP development, OXMIQ Labs Inc., founded by renowned GPU architect Raja Koduri, has officially emerged from stealth mode. The startup is positioning itself at the forefront of agentic GPU innovation by delivering a software-first architecture that aims to redefine the GPU stack “From Atoms to Agents™.” Backed by a team with over 500 collective years of experience and $20 million in seed capital led by MediaTek Inc., OXMIQ is charting a bold path toward next-generation AI infrastructure.
Central to OXMIQ’s vision is OXPython™, which lets developers run NVIDIA CUDA Python AI applications on non‑NVIDIA hardware without any code modifications. As Jim Keller, CEO of Tenstorrent™, observed, “OXPython’s ability to bring Python® workloads for CUDA to AI platforms like Wormhole™ and Blackhole™ is great for developer portability and ecosystem expansion.” This portability promises to broaden the AI development ecosystem considerably.
The startup’s GPU IP stack is built on its modular, scalable architecture powered by OXCORE™ and OXQUILT™, designed to support compute demands ranging from edge-based Physical AI to massive zettascale data centers. OXMIQ’s capital-efficient licensing model and developer-first approach represent a disruptive alternative to traditional GPU hardware incumbents.
MediaTek’s SVP, Lawrence Loh, praised the venture: “OXMIQ has an impressive bold vision and world-class team.” The $20 million seed round underscores the confidence strategic investors place in OXMIQ’s potential to reshape the GPU IP landscape.
While Raja Koduri is now fully dedicated to OXMIQ, he continues to support Mihira Visual Labs™, the cinematic AI venture he co-founded with Shobu Yarlagadda and filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli. “Raja’s early contributions to Mihira helped shape our foundational vision of cinematic AI,” said Yarlagadda. OXMIQ, in turn, will continue to support Mihira with its evolving GPU IP innovations, reinforcing a collaborative ecosystem across AI domains.
OXMIQ’s emergence underscores a major shift: moving from hardware-centric design to a software-first, architecture-agnostic approach that prioritizes compatibility, flexibility, and developer empowerment. With its market-ready tools and strategic partnerships, OXMIQ is set to accelerate innovation in AI compute infrastructure and challenge the status quo in GPU technology.
