Wipro Deploys 200 Generative AI Agents with Google Cloud, Accelerates Push into Agentic AI and SLMs

As Indian enterprises ramp up their adoption of Agentic AI, IT major Wipro is making significant strides by partnering with Google Cloud to roll out 200 production-ready generative AI agents across industries. According to Deloitte’s latest report, over 80% of organisations are actively exploring autonomous AI agents, and Wipro is now emerging as a front-runner in the space.

The agents, powered by Google’s Gemini models and Vertex AI, are tailored for industries such as healthcare, banking, retail, and manufacturing, and are already delivering measurable business outcomes. “Wipro is demonstrating how Google’s Gemini models and Vertex AI can be utilised to build powerful, industry-specific agents that transform everyday work across industries,” said Victor Morales, Vice President, Global System Integrator Partnerships at Google Cloud.

Pushpa Ramachandran, Wipro’s Vice President and Global Head of AI, shared that these modular and domain-specific AI agents are capable of learning, planning, and acting autonomously in complex environments. Use cases already implemented include automating customs documentation for a global retailer, which reduced both delays and operational costs, and identifying equipment faults in utilities or resolving real-time customer issues in retail.

“We are in an era where we have AI-led delivery in all client conversations,” Ramachandran said, noting rapid adoption across BFSI, telecom, consumer goods, and manufacturing sectors. These agents are designed not just as productivity tools but as direct enablers of business transformation.

In parallel, Wipro is also investing heavily in Small Language Models (SLMs)—lightweight, domain-trained AI systems that can be deployed efficiently for task-specific use cases. Through its Wipro Ventures arm and strategic collaborations with universities and startups, the company aims to accelerate the development of SLMs tailored for enterprise needs.

To support this vision, Wipro is training over 87,000 employees in AI technologies, ensuring that even frontline teams are equipped with the skills to integrate AI into core workflows. “Democratising AI knowledge is central to our AI-first transformation strategy,” Ramachandran emphasised.

With this twin-pronged focus on Agentic AI and SLMs, Wipro is positioning itself at the forefront of enterprise AI innovation, aiming to lead the next wave of intelligent automation in global businesses.
