Andhra Pradesh has formally approved the allocation of 480 acres of land in Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli to Adani Infra, the primary notified partner of Google’s Raiden Infotech India, for the development of a massive 1 GW AI-focused data centre cluster. The state government order, issued on December 2, confirms the land transfer following cabinet approval. Raiden is rolling out the project in multiple phases with an investment exceeding ₹87,500 crore, and the company is expected to receive ₹22,000 crore in government incentives over the duration of the project.
The upcoming development is a multi-partner effort involving Adani Infra, AdaniConneX, Adani Power, Bharti Airtel Limited (Airtel Enterprise Services), Nxtra by Airtel Data and Nxtra Vizag. All organisations listed as notified partners will work jointly to create an integrated data centre ecosystem built to the same benchmarks that support core Google services, including Search, YouTube and Workspace. The government order stated, “The Government hereby accords permission for the transfer,” as Raiden requested that the designated land parcels be handed over to Adani Infra upon completion of survey and possession procedures.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu highlighted the significance of the initiative, revealing that Google has increased its overall commitment from USD 10 billion to USD 15 billion. The scale of the project is striking—the 1 GW capacity planned for the facility represents power consumption equivalent to nearly half of Mumbai’s total annual usage. This positions Andhra Pradesh as a strategic centre for large-scale AI compute, cloud infrastructure and next-generation data services.
With this approval, the state strengthens its ambition to become a major destination for global technology investments. The cluster is expected not only to accelerate India’s AI infrastructure footprint but also to enhance regional economic activity through high-value construction, power distribution and digital services. The collaboration between global technology players and domestic infrastructure groups underscores the rapid expansion of India’s cloud and AI ecosystem, with Andhra Pradesh emerging as a key beneficiary of this momentum.
