OpenAI and Anthropic Deepen India Push With New Hiring and Local Expansion Plans

OpenAI and Anthropic are significantly stepping up their focus on India, expanding global hiring efforts with a slate of roles aimed squarely at talent in the country. The move highlights India’s growing importance in the global artificial intelligence ecosystem and signals long-term commitments by two of the world’s most influential AI companies to build local presence, partnerships and revenue streams.

OpenAI is currently advertising nine India-based positions across a wide range of functions, including sales, customer success, growth, partnerships and technical roles. These opportunities span Delhi-based postings as well as remote positions, reflecting the company’s flexible approach as it builds out its Indian operations. Several of the roles are clearly aligned with driving adoption and commercial growth in the region, underscoring India’s strategic value as both a market and an innovation hub.

Among OpenAI’s most prominent openings are Account Director roles focused on Digital Natives, Large Enterprises and Startups. These positions are designed to work closely with customers at different stages of scale, helping them integrate AI tools into core business workflows. The company is also hiring an AI Deployment Manager to support enterprise implementations, a role that signals increasing demand from large organisations seeking hands-on guidance to operationalise AI at scale. In addition, a Growth Lead for India role points to a broader mandate around market expansion, ecosystem development and long-term go-to-market strategy.

Anthropic is making similar moves, with a hiring push that includes sales-focused roles based in Bangalore. Current openings include Enterprise Account Executive (Industries) and Startup Account Executive positions, aimed at strengthening relationships with both established enterprises and fast-growing startups. These roles are expected to play a key part in expanding Anthropic’s footprint across key Indian sectors and supporting customers as they adopt advanced AI models.

The recruitment activity from both companies comes as they move closer to opening offices in India, reinforcing the country’s position as one of the most active global markets for AI startups, developers and enterprise adoption. With a large talent pool, strong startup momentum and growing enterprise demand, India is increasingly seen as a cornerstone in the long-term global expansion strategies of leading AI firms.
