GIGABYTE has officially started local production in India through a contract manufacturing partnership, marking a significant step in the company’s expansion strategy and reinforcing its commitment to the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. The development signals GIGABYTE’s intent to strengthen its long-term presence in the Indian market, improve supply chain efficiency, and reduce reliance on imports while catering more effectively to domestic demand.
The company’s manufacturing operations in India will initially focus on motherboard production, a core segment of GIGABYTE’s global portfolio. Over time, the company plans to broaden local manufacturing to include additional product categories such as monitors and laptops. This phased approach is designed to ensure consistent quality standards while steadily increasing local value addition and responsiveness to market needs.
“India has always been one of our most important markets,” said Mr. Dandy Yeh, Chairman of GIGABYTE Technology. His statement underscores the strategic importance of India within GIGABYTE’s global growth roadmap, particularly as demand for high-performance computing hardware continues to rise across consumer, enterprise and institutional segments.
CEO Mr. Eddie Lin highlighted the operational and strategic benefits of the move, stating, “We will continue to uphold our rigorous standards in component and manufacturing to ensure that high-performance, reliable solutions reach Indian consumers through a more efficient and timely supply chain. This Make in India initiative will also open new opportunities across enterprise, government, and public sectors.” The company emphasised that maintaining global quality benchmarks remains central to its local manufacturing plans.
GIGABYTE said that establishing production capabilities in India will help create a more resilient and sustainable supply chain. By manufacturing locally, the company aims to shorten lead times, improve product availability and respond more quickly to shifts in customer demand. The move is also expected to support India’s broader goals of boosting domestic manufacturing and building a robust electronics ecosystem.
Beyond consumer markets, GIGABYTE sees growing potential in enterprise, government and public sector deployments, where demand for reliable and high-performance hardware is increasing. The local manufacturing initiative positions the company to better serve these segments while aligning with national priorities around self-reliance and technology development.
Overall, GIGABYTE’s entry into local manufacturing reflects a strategic commitment to India as a key growth market, combining global expertise with local production to support long-term expansion and ecosystem development.
