
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), through its wholly owned subsidiary Reliance Strategic Business Ventures Limited (RSBVL), has acquired a majority stake in Sikhya Entertainment, marking a notable consolidation move in India’s media and entertainment sector. The deal involves the purchase of a 50.1% equity stake for a total cash consideration of ₹150 crore, executed through a combination of primary and secondary investments.
This acquisition further strengthens the position of Jio Studios, the media and content arm of RIL, as it continues to expand its presence across film, digital content, and global storytelling. With this investment, Jio Studios aims to scale high-quality Indian content and accelerate its reach to international audiences, aligning with its long-term vision of building a globally competitive content ecosystem.
Founded by acclaimed producers Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain, Sikhya Entertainment has earned a distinctive place in the global media landscape. The company is the only Indian production house to have won both an Academy Award and multiple National Film Awards. Its Oscar-winning projects include Period. End of Sentence. and The Elephant Whisperers, while its National Film Award-winning films feature critically acclaimed titles such as Masaan, Soorarai Pottru, and Kathal.
The partnership is expected to combine Sikhya Entertainment’s strong creative legacy with Jio Studios’ scale, capital, and distribution capabilities. Through this collaboration, the two companies will co-create films and series for audiences in India and across the world, bringing together Jio Studios’ focus on building enduring intellectual property, nurturing creator-led ecosystems, and long-term vision with Sikhya’s proven track record of globally resonant, culturally rooted storytelling.
Jio Studios has been a major contributor to India’s entertainment ecosystem, connecting audiences globally and backing films with both creative and commercial conviction. Over the years, it has consistently identified defining stories and built them for wide audiences, producing landmark titles such as Dhurandhar, Laapataa Ladies, and the Stree franchise, emerging as a key player in India’s evolving content economy.
