Coulomb Litech has raised Rs 20 crore in a seed funding round from HNIs to expand its manufacturing capacity and deepen its footprint within India’s electric vehicle ecosystem.
Established in 2020 by IIT Kanpur alumni Ameya Sathe and Darshil Dharod, the Mumbai-based startup develops fast-charging, long-life battery systems tailored for medium and heavy electric vehicles. Its solutions cater to applications including material handling equipment, electric tractors, construction machinery, electric three-wheelers (E-3W), and energy storage systems.
Coulomb’s battery systems are engineered to function across a wide voltage range from 51V to 700V, with capacities of up to 80 kWh. These systems are already deployed in multiple commercial and pilot programs with OEMs across India. The company provides modular medium- and high-voltage battery platforms designed specifically for the rigorous operational demands of heavy-duty EV applications.
A defining capability of the company lies in its end-to-end in-house technology development. Coulomb Litech has built its entire battery technology stack internally, covering hardware, software, and algorithm development. The startup has developed proprietary Battery Management Systems (BMS), liquid cooling systems, CCS charging systems, and IoT-enabled analytics platforms. This integrated architecture enables faster charging cycles while extending battery lifespan — a critical requirement for commercial EV operators.
The newly secured capital will be used to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Navi Mumbai. In addition to scaling production, the company plans to allocate funds toward business expansion, research and development, and the acceleration of ongoing pilot deployments across heavy EV categories such as electric tractors, cranes, material handling equipment, and E-3W vehicles.
Coulomb Litech also intends to strengthen partnerships with OEMs and fleet operators to speed up the adoption of its battery platforms in commercial use cases. Alongside expansion, the startup is focused on improving product durability, operational safety, and performance consistency under demanding usage conditions.
With increasing emphasis on localisation and manufacturing scale-up, the company aims to contribute to India’s broader electrification push in the medium and heavy electric vehicle segments. As electric mobility gains traction in commercial applications, Coulomb Litech is positioning itself as a long-term battery technology partner for OEMs seeking to electrify heavy-duty and utility vehicle fleets across the country.
