Generac has appointed Shyam Sunder as Vice President – Global Business & Technology Centre (GBTC), Pune. In this position, he will lead the company’s first Global Business & Technology Centre in India and focus on strengthening engineering capabilities, advancing digital innovation, and supporting Generac’s global technology and product development initiatives.
With more than 25 years of global leadership experience, Shyam Sunder has built and scaled high-impact engineering and technology organisations while leading complex enterprise transformation programs across multinational environments. His career reflects a strong track record of driving innovation, operational excellence, and sustainable growth in large global organisations.
Before joining Generac, he worked with UL Solutions where he was responsible for regional expansion and strategic client leadership across Australia and New Zealand as well as South and Southeast Asia. His experience there contributed to strengthening market presence and enhancing client partnerships across multiple regions.
Earlier, during his 13-year tenure at Johnson Controls, he played a significant role in transforming the global engineering organisation into a large-scale innovation ecosystem of more than 1,800 professionals. His efforts helped accelerate product development cycles and enhance the company’s global competitiveness through strengthened engineering capabilities.
Prior to that, he held leadership roles at Tata Consultancy Services, where he further developed expertise in profit and loss leadership, engineering transformation initiatives, and global delivery management.
Generac, recognised as a global leader in energy technology solutions, is expanding its global capability footprint with the launch of its Global Business & Technology Centre in India. The centre is expected to serve as a strategic hub for engineering, digital innovation, and technology-driven collaboration across the company’s global operations.
