
Google has appointed Kanika Kalra as Director of Consumer Apps and Platforms Marketing in India. In this role, she will lead marketing strategy and growth initiatives for the company’s consumer applications and platforms across the region.
Welcoming her to the organisation, Shekhar Khosla, Vice President – Marketing at Google, shared the announcement on LinkedIn. “The Consumer Apps and Platforms space is at a pivotal turning point in India. We are reimagining the core of Google Search, Google Maps, Android, Google Photos, and Chrome through the lens of AI. With Gemini at the forefront, Kanika’s leadership will be instrumental as we deliver intuitive, AI-powered experiences at population scale in India!” he wrote.
Kalra brings more than 20 years of experience in marketing, strategy, and business leadership across global organisations. Prior to joining Google, she served as Regional Marketing Director – Health, South Asia at Reckitt, where she led regional marketing initiatives and brand strategies across key healthcare and consumer health categories.
Earlier in her career, she worked as a Partner at McKinsey & Company, where she advised organisations on strategic growth, marketing transformation, and consumer engagement strategies. Her professional journey also includes leadership roles at Snapdeal and Unilever, where she contributed to brand development and digital growth initiatives.
Kalra has also held positions at PepsiCo, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare, and Genpact, building extensive experience in consumer marketing, category strategy, and brand management across multiple industries.
With her appointment, Google is expected to further strengthen its marketing leadership for consumer apps and platforms in India. As the company continues to integrate artificial intelligence across products such as Search, Maps, Android, Photos, and Chrome, Kalra’s experience in marketing strategy and consumer engagement will play a key role in expanding adoption and delivering AI-powered digital experiences to users across the country.
