The Government of India has introduced a nationwide AI skilling initiative in collaboration with Google and YouTube, offering 15,000 scholarships aimed at building future-ready digital talent. The programme is designed to equip creators, media professionals, and aspiring digital talent with practical skills in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
The initiative will be led by the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT), which will oversee its rollout, curriculum design, and implementation. The courses will focus on areas such as animation, gaming, content creation, and digital storytelling, reflecting the growing demand for AI-driven skills in the creative economy.
Participants selected under the scholarship programme will gain access to industry-relevant training modules, including foundational AI concepts, prompt engineering, and advanced generative AI tools. The curriculum also includes certifications such as “Google AI Essentials” and “Prompting Essentials,” aimed at enhancing employability and preparing learners for real-world applications.
The programme adopts a hybrid learning approach, combining self-paced online modules with expert-led sessions and hands-on training. Advanced stages are expected to include exposure to tools like Google Cloud, Vertex AI, and Gemini, enabling participants to build practical, production-ready applications tailored to creative industries.
This move is part of the government’s broader push to strengthen India’s AI ecosystem and bridge the skills gap in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. By partnering with global technology companies, the initiative aims to democratize access to high-quality AI education and support the country’s growing creator economy.
