Lucid Bots, a U.S.-based robotics startup, has raised $20 million in a Series B funding round as it looks to scale production of its window-washing drones and autonomous cleaning robots. The round was co-led by Cubit Capital and Idea Fund Partners, bringing the company’s total funding to $34 million.
The company has seen a sharp rise in demand over the past year for its Sherpa cleaning drones and Lavo pressure-washing robots, driven by increasing need for safer and more efficient solutions in building maintenance. Founder and CEO Andrew Ashur emphasized the company’s practical approach, noting that while many robotics firms focus on futuristic demos, Lucid Bots is focused on real-world deployment and measurable performance.
In his words, “We’re not just in the lab… we’re out on job sites getting work done,” highlighting the company’s emphasis on productivity and on-ground impact rather than hype.
Founded in 2018 and based in Charlotte, North Carolina, Lucid Bots designs and manufactures its robots domestically. Its solutions are used by cleaning companies to perform high-risk tasks such as exterior window cleaning, significantly improving safety by reducing the need for workers to operate at dangerous heights.
The company’s growth has accelerated rapidly in recent years. It took nearly five years to sell its first 100 robots, but it is now approaching 1,000 deployed units, reflecting strong market adoption.
The newly raised capital will be used to expand hiring, increase manufacturing capacity, and meet rising customer demand. According to Ashur, the company is already experiencing more demo requests than it can currently handle, signaling strong inbound interest from potential clients.
Beyond window cleaning, Lucid Bots is also exploring adjacent applications such as painting, waterproofing, and sealing, leveraging the same robotic platform to expand into broader infrastructure maintenance use cases.
The funding highlights a growing trend in robotics where startups are shifting from experimental concepts to practical, revenue-generating applications. As labor shortages and safety concerns continue to impact industries like construction and maintenance, solutions like Lucid Bots’ drones are gaining traction as scalable, real-world alternatives.
