Cloud accounting platform Xero has announced a multi-year partnership with AI company Anthropic to integrate its Claude AI model directly into Xero’s ecosystem, marking a significant step toward AI-driven financial workflows for small businesses.
As part of the collaboration, Claude will be embedded within Xero’s platform to automate key financial tasks such as accounting, payroll, and payments, while also analyzing cash flow, tracking revenue performance, and identifying unpaid invoices. The integration aims to provide businesses with real-time insights and actionable recommendations, reducing manual effort and improving decision-making.
A key highlight of the partnership is its two-way integration. While Claude will power automation and insights within Xero, users will also be able to access their Xero financial data directly inside Claude.ai. This will allow businesses to perform advanced analysis, scenario planning, and financial forecasting without switching between platforms.
The partnership also introduces a shift toward “agentic workflows,” where Xero’s AI assistant, JAX (Just Ask Xero), powered by Claude, can not only surface insights but also execute tasks end-to-end. This includes proactively identifying financial gaps, recommending actions, and eventually completing workflows with minimal human intervention.
Importantly, both companies emphasized data privacy, stating that financial data shared between the platforms will only be used within user sessions and will not be used to train Anthropic’s AI models.
The integration is expected to roll out in the coming months and will also extend internally, with Xero’s engineering teams adopting Anthropic’s tools such as Claude Code and Cowork to accelerate product development.
This collaboration reflects a broader trend in fintech, where platforms are evolving from record-keeping systems into intelligent, AI-powered decision engines, enabling businesses to move from data analysis to real-time action.
