Apple Appoints Former Google Executive to Lead AI Marketing Amid Siri Revamp Push

Apple has appointed Lilian Rincon, a former Google executive, as Vice President of Product Marketing for Artificial Intelligence. The move comes as the company intensifies efforts to strengthen its AI strategy and enhance the capabilities of its virtual assistant Siri.
Rincon brings nearly a decade of experience at Google, where she oversaw key products including shopping and assistant services. In her new role at Apple, she will report to Greg “Joz” Joswiak, the company’s marketing chief, and will be responsible for shaping how Apple positions and communicates its growing portfolio of AI-driven products.

The appointment comes at a critical time as Apple prepares to roll out a significantly upgraded version of Siri later this year. The revamped assistant is expected to incorporate advanced artificial intelligence capabilities powered in part by Gemini, reflecting Apple’s shift toward integrating more sophisticated generative AI technologies into its ecosystem.
Apple has faced increasing pressure to catch up with competitors in the generative AI space, particularly as rivals continue to introduce more advanced and conversational AI systems. The company has been investing heavily in what it calls “Apple Intelligence,” aiming to deliver more personalized, context-aware experiences across its devices and services.
Rincon’s hiring signals Apple’s recognition of the importance of not only building advanced AI capabilities but also effectively marketing them to consumers. As AI becomes a central battleground in the tech industry, the company is focusing on aligning product innovation with clear communication and user adoption strategies.

The move also reflects a broader trend of talent movement across major technology companies, as firms compete to secure experienced leaders capable of driving AI transformation. With a revamped Siri and a strengthened leadership team, Apple is positioning itself to play a more prominent role in the next phase of the artificial intelligence race.
