Bluesky Expands AI Strategy With ‘Attie’ App for Building Personalized Social Feeds

Decentralized social platform Bluesky has introduced a new artificial intelligence-powered app called Attie, marking a significant step in its push toward user-controlled social media experiences. Announced in March 2026, the tool allows users to design their own algorithms and create highly personalized content feeds using simple natural language prompts.

Unlike traditional social media platforms where algorithms are predefined, Attie enables users to customize what they see by describing their preferences conversationally. The app functions as an AI assistant that interprets user inputs and builds tailored feeds, accordingly, removing the need for coding knowledge. This approach reflects a broader shift toward making advanced personalization tools accessible to everyday users.

Attie is built on Bluesky’s underlying AT Protocol, an open and decentralized framework designed to give users greater control over their data and online experience. By leveraging this architecture, the app allows users not only to customize feeds but also, in the future, to potentially build their own applications on top of the platform.

The tool is powered by AI technology from Anthropic, enabling it to understand natural language instructions and translate them into functional algorithms. For example, users can request feeds focused on specific topics, interests, or communities, and the AI will generate a curated stream of relevant content in real time.

Currently, Attie is being introduced as a standalone application in a closed beta phase, with interested users able to join a waitlist for early access. Over time, Bluesky plans to integrate these custom feeds more deeply into its ecosystem and potentially extend them to other apps built on the AT Protocol.

The launch of Attie highlights Bluesky’s long-standing vision of creating a “marketplace of algorithms,” where users can choose or design their own content experiences rather than relying on centralized control. As social media platforms face increasing scrutiny over algorithm transparency and user autonomy, tools like Attie could play a key role in reshaping how people interact with digital content.
