Tencent has introduced a preview version of its latest artificial intelligence model, Hunyuan Hy3, marking a major upgrade in its proprietary AI ecosystem as competition intensifies globally. The new model is positioned as the company’s most advanced offering to date, with a strong focus on improving real-world performance across enterprise and consumer applications.
The Hy3 preview is built using a mixture-of-experts architecture with 295 billion parameters, including 21 billion active parameters, enabling more efficient computation while maintaining high performance. The model has been designed to significantly enhance capabilities in complex reasoning, coding, instruction following, and agent-based tasks, reflecting the growing demand for advanced AI systems.
Tencent revealed that the model was developed on a newly rebuilt training infrastructure, which includes redesigned pre-training and reinforcement learning systems. The company reportedly began training Hy3 shortly after overhauling its internal AI stack, highlighting its commitment to accelerating innovation and improving model efficiency.
The Hy3 model is already being integrated into Tencent’s existing product ecosystem, including its AI chatbot Yuanbao and coding assistant tools. This integration demonstrates the company’s strategy of embedding AI directly into user-facing applications, allowing for faster adoption and real-world validation of its capabilities.
Tencent has emphasized that Hy3 delivers notable improvements in areas such as reasoning, coding accuracy, and task automation. The model is also designed to support a wide range of use cases, from enterprise automation to consumer-facing AI services, making it a key component of the company’s broader AI roadmap.
The launch comes amid rising competition in the AI space, particularly from both global leaders and domestic rivals. Chinese technology firms are rapidly advancing their AI capabilities, with companies investing heavily in infrastructure, talent, and model development to compete on a global scale.
Overall, the release of Hunyuan Hy3 preview underscores Tencent’s ambition to strengthen its position in the artificial intelligence landscape. By focusing on scalable architecture, real-world deployment, and ecosystem integration, the company is aiming to bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI research and practical applications.
