Foxconn has successfully launched its second-generation low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, marking a significant step in the company’s expansion into the space technology sector.
The two satellites, named PEARL-1A and PEARL-1B, were deployed from California and have successfully reached their intended orbits. They are expected to operate for approximately five years, during which they will conduct in-orbit missions focused on validating key technologies.
According to the company, the primary objective of these satellites is to test payload capabilities related to communication systems and space science applications. This initiative reflects Foxconn’s broader strategy to diversify beyond electronics manufacturing and invest in next-generation technologies.
The launch underscores the growing involvement of private technology firms in the space industry, as companies increasingly explore satellite-based solutions for connectivity, data transmission, and advanced research. Foxconn’s move aligns with a wider industry trend where non-traditional players are entering the space ecosystem to capture emerging opportunities.
