New Delhi, India — Arduino has launched the Arduino Edge AI Invention Lab at the Student Innovation Lab within the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. The facility expands the company’s Physical AI for All initiative, which is designed to make Edge AI and Physical AI education accessible to students, educators, developers and researchers across India.
The new laboratory will provide students with access to Arduino’s hardware and software ecosystem to develop AI applications that interact with physical devices, sensors and embedded systems. Students will be able to work on real-world projects through project-based learning, interdisciplinary research, hackathons, innovation challenges and collaborations with industry participants.
The facility was inaugurated by Guneet Bedi, Senior Director, Sales at Qualcomm Technologies, during his visit to India. The event was attended by Professor Shankar Prakriya, Head of IIT Delhi’s Department of Electrical Engineering, along with faculty members Professor Shubhendu Bhasin, Professor Amartansh Dubey and Professor Kaushik Saha.
Commenting on the initiative, Bedi said, “Arduino has spent more than two decades making technology accessible through open-source innovation. With our Physical AI initiative, we are extending that mission by helping universities create hands-on learning environments where students can build the next generation of intelligent systems.”
Professor Amartansh Dubey said the collaboration could encourage the development of next-generation Physical AI applications by enabling students to convert concepts and prototypes into practical solutions. The IIT Delhi facility joins Arduino’s expanding network of AI-focused innovation laboratories in India. A similar laboratory has been established at Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, while facilities are planned at Adani University, Symbiosis Institute of Technology and Shiv Nadar School in Faridabad.
According to Arduino, its Physical AI for All programme has reached more than 23,000 students, educators, developers and innovators within six months through over 100 workshops, bootcamps and academic programmes. The company has also conducted 25 faculty development and educator-training programmes, reaching more than 1,000 educators, while building collaborations with over 300 universities and higher education institutions.
Arduino has additionally developed a 120-hour, credit-based Edge AI curriculum with education partner STEMLORE Innovators. The programme includes laboratory manuals, teaching resources, faculty-enablement material and project kits. The company is also supporting the establishment of 10 Edge AI Centres of Excellence across state technical universities in India.
Arduino is an open-source electronics platform providing hardware boards, software tools and development resources for students, engineers, educators and technology developers. Its ecosystem is used for applications spanning embedded computing, automation, robotics, Internet of Things and Edge AI.
